Julie Miller, aka ‘Shiney’, is a self-taught artist who refined her painting skills whilst settling into varying beach towns around the world. Now residing on a boat in Hawaii, she has gained momentum for painting seascapes that feature pastimes on the ocean and exhibit the character of local lifestyles and foliage.
Shiney defines her style as relaxed realism and uses her paints to capture the ever changing shapes and hues at play on the ocean.
The Northern Beaches of Australia, cliffs of Maine, and personal stories from acquaintances from years of traveling have inspired an evolution in Shiney’s artwork, her palette, and subject matter.
In her ocean series, she strives to communicate the quest and adventure of capturing something that is constantly changing. Her series feature shorelines, beach swells, rock pools, and cresting waves beginning with a palette of only primary colors and white to emphasize the ocean’s elemental form and evoke the sense of natural simplicity. All paintings are acrylic on canvas.
Thank you for taking time to enjoy Shiney’s work and passion pieces.
